ASSISTED HATCING
Making a small opening in the embryo wall before transfer increases implantation and pregnancy rates.
Assiste hatching can be done with the help of mechanical, chemical or laser. In terms of their effects on pregnancy rates, each of the 3 methods is not superior to the other.
While assisted hatching does not increase pregnancy rates much, it has positive effects on pregnancy rates when performed in line with some indications.
Assiste hatching indications:
1. Two or more failed IVF applications
2. Presence of thick embryo wall (zona pellisuda)
3. Frozen embryo transfer
4. Advanced female age (over 38 years old)
5. FSH value over 9
6. Poor embryo morphology.
Identical twin development rate is higher than normal in pregnancies after assisted hatching.
